Honestly if you lean more towards the revival, santa cruz and martin sound, I would stay away from Larrivee. To my ears, Larrivees sound a lot more modern/contemporary than the traditional sounds of the former guitars I mentioned.

Not to say they are worse sounding, just a different sound. I personally don't care for the modern sound of taylors or larrivees. While I can appreciate what they are going for, I like traditional sounding guitars much better.

PS...as far as comfort goes, you'd be hard pressed to find one more comfortable than the revival OMs. Best neck I've ever played, lightly built and resonate for days.

Really the only Martin killer I've ever played was an revival OM deluxe.

Yes, like the one you are stalking

They generally can be had for ridiculous good deals.

I just saw Eric Clapton play Friday night in NYC. He did a few songs including layla with his Martin. Kind of made me go hmmm, although the 000s with his initials dont come cheap.

I was able to find-- with help from some members-- a 2011 Breedlove MC Revival OM/AR deluxe in this price range. What an instrument. It's a 2011 and still has that great smell. My oregon OM is a similar shape -- 1 3/4 nut and 2 1/4 bridge spacing so it feels familiar but the rosewood adi sounds very different from the myrtlewood and spruce combo of the oregon. Warm mids and bright highs with clear bass. Thanks to the board.

Definitely a Martin OM-21, 2012 or newer. I had this and had to spend $3500 to get something (Bourgeois Vintage OM) that was better... and in some ways the OM-21 is better. It's one of those guitars that just works regardless of price. They do a great job on workmanship with it. Light and simple and fantastic sounding and in your price range used.

I've owned a couple of Santa Cruz OMPWs and liked them a lot. Easy to play and great straight forward sound. I now play a Stonebridge OM-24 that was less expensive and every bit as nice.

I'll second the OM-21.

Nice to know that they're within the $1,500~$2,000 range.

Look for an 08 08 breedlove revival. In your price range very hard to beat. Be careful though. Not the same as a cascade revival

If you shop carefully, you can find a used Martin 00-18 for 1500 and you can easily find a 000-16 for your price.
