To me, the tremolo system is the main attraction of a Jazzmaster. But it sounds like a headache if you don’t know exactly what you’re doing.

I had been intrigued by Jazzmasters for years. I love how clear they are and how they retain definition with fuzz and effects in general.

I ended up getting a Troy Van Leeuwen signature model in Oxblood. It is more or less a mid 60s style JM with binding and blocks. I swapped the guard to a gold pearl and upgraded the pickups. I absolutely love it! I feel I can just be myself on it more than other models. It is also wonderful to play seated which I do a lot.

Everyone should give the Jazzmaster a try!

I wish my son would go ahead and get one. I would love to check it out on my amps and see if this is something I have to have.

See what happens when you spend time on guitar forums? This and another Jazzmaster curious thread on the Gretsch owners forum planted the seed and it sprouted this Squier 40th anniversary vintage edition. This guitar is pretty amazing considering the low cost. I probably won't change a thing because it works well enough for an old guy who doesn't gig anymore. I'm sure a working player would change pots/pickups but I'm good. Thanks to all who shared their knowledge here.
