I'd use something as close to what you have on your main acoustic guitar as possible - until very recently all my own electrics were set up with 12's or 13's...

You may want to employ the use of your tone control and the pickup selector switch .
Try different strings to find the ones that you like just as with an acoustic . |

I got my sorta tele guitar with Pure Nickel strings (not just nickel plated). They should sound a bit smoother than strings with more steel content. Something like:

My current faves for electric are the DAddario NYXL. . I use the set starting with 11 on my Strat for electric fingerpick tunes. I am considering moving up to 12.

I tend to throw Ernie Ball regular Slinky 10’s on my electrics. I am far more picky with acoustics.
I have been trying to diagnose a noisy G on my Tele (why is it always a G causing trouble??). It isn’t an issue above the nut as is apparently common. I put some tape up there and it persists. May try a wound G.

Hey Eyesore, looks like you're getting a bunch of different gauge size recommendations, and all of them are good.
Do you know what strings came stock on your Tele when you bought it? Guessing you liked the gauge back then. I say put those on again and and see how you like them. Once you get re-accustomed to the Tele then decide to change gauge. They were probably 9s or 10s. |

A lot of players including me like to put 10s on their Telecasters.

Geez,I 've had this guitar for 15 years .Played in a rock band. Not sure what strings were on it .I guess I 'd like something a little "meatier". 09 's were on it at one time ,but I took em off because they were too light.10's are probably on it now. I use .11's on both my acoustics. Are there .11's that come thru with a wound G string? Thanks .

If you really want to match the feel of your acoustics the Martin Monel MM11 11-52 set works quite well as an electric set, and many jazzcats over on the Archtop subforum use them...

To add to Steve's list of flats I use Rotosound Monel Top Tapes on my Tele. I think these only come as 12's and are fairly inexpensive as far as flats go

All my electrics get D'Addario EJ21 12s with a wound G. Enjoy.

yes i think i'll try flatwounds .the problem with my Tele is the high E string . no matter what i do [except if the tone is turned all the way down] that E string sounds very tinny , to the point of being offensive. even my wife hates it. will a high gauge string make it better ?
