News update for everyone ... including Tim:

Since I create the McJam schedules and take suggestions from attendees on what they would like Tim to speak on and share Tim will discuss his electric guitar experience during a McJam class which will take place at the mic or at his bench. At that time his electric prototype will be on display.

Although the customer already has the first completed McKnight electric guitar in his possession our 2016 McJammers will be the first in the world to see the
prototype. Questions will be welcomed and answers will be shared.

Building a matching pair of guitars has been a learning experience. Even though I now have 2 electrics under my belt I don't see many more in my future since my heart is not truly in it. Its difficult for me to build something that doesn't excite me. I feel the same about nylon string guitars as well. I've built one and that was enough... for a while...

I'd be curious to know what bracing model you used on your classical guitars. Did you follow a well trodden path, or strike out on your own? I'm pretty sure I would have followed the former course for the first two instrumentsl

Its been several years ago that I built a classical and I "think" I used a traditional Houser body and bracing based on plans from the guild. It turned out OK but my ear has never been drawn to the sound of nylon strings so that plays a large part in why I have never ventured down that road again.

Seems to me a hybrid guitar would give a luthier the chance for a lot of creativity, but few go there. It does create trade offs that are tuff for the pure acoustic maker. But it is a kick to go from electric to acoustic with the flick of a switch

Hope it is ok to post a link to a recent thread (hey, the man made a Tele, who would have thought) but I kind of like the way this nylon was played. Not your normal classical repertoire, might inspire more to take up the nylon, it is a crossover though.

I think it has more to do with sales opportunities. If one builds traditional classical guitars that is what their clientele expects of them and same holds true for steel string makers. When you mix the two, the market becomes much smaller, especially if you are building on spec.

Sorry but I did not save the part numbers. I'm not trying to be a wise guy but its the Lindy pictured in the top photo. Unfortunately, I'm not very knowledgeable when it comes to these electronic gizmos.
