So the guitar is back from Vancouver from finishing, and Rebecca is now doing the bridge, frets, and (pretty soon!) the final set-up.

I may have the guitar hand-delivered within a week. Rebecca lives in Bend, and Eugene is about 2-1/2 hours away in the winter. She used to live here, so she's going to drive over, and then also visit friends!

Here is what I've got to share:

Wow, Larry, it's beautiful. Question for you: I've still never had a guitar with a port. When you decided on having one, do you specify where it should be placed on the bass side? I ask because this one looks like it'll point right at you given your preferred playing position in the classical style . . . .

Just getting down in the weeds a bit. Tim

Tim beat me to it! That's cool that she put your port in a different spot than mine for your needs. Very thoughtful.

I am keen to hear your thoughts on it after it's had time to breathe and be played. I may be ordering a Redwood/Guatemlan or German/Guatemalen build from her in springtime. Will be playing the new Redwood/Indian sister to yours tommorrow at Cedar Rock! Really cant wait.

All the best to you.

Thanks, all.

Tim & Dustin: Yes, I requested the port placement due to my somewhat unique "vertical" positioning of the guitar, utilizing the DeOro GuitaRest support-device.

I actually have a pre-owned Joel Michaud with similar placement (right at the apex of the upper bout curve), so I was hoping that Rebecca felt this was feasible for her approach.

Photos not viewable?

I can't speak to that. They are all jpegs, loaded to my domain-host website, and then included in the "advanced" features of how this host allows said photos to be shown.

I can see 'em, for sure.

Weather-permitting, Rebecca may be driving over Willamette Pass tomorrow, or perhaps within the next 2-3 days...we'll see.

Well, Rebecca drove over Willamette Pass on Friday, when the guitar was literally 2-days old. Despite my years doing this, and my builder-friends all over, this might be the "youngest" guitar I've touched!

So we fooled around with set-up just a bit, and also spent a bunch of time catching up on "friend stuff".

I decided to try to make a raw recording this afternoon, "day 4" in the life of this guitar. This might not be altogether fair to Rebecca or the guitar, but it's vibrating so nicely in my lap, well, why not share here, amongst friends! Rebecca did give permission for me to post this, so here it is.

Heck, the guitar still doesn't know that it isn't a tree (or multiple trees) yet!

I tried adding a hint of reverb via Final Cut, but I'm not sure that it "took", so this is pretty raw...and no EQ, compression, anything.

What better way to find out what the guitar actually sounds, like, of course. I'm expecting changes in tonality over time, but for now it's got the sparkle, articulation, and smoothness of a Somogyi...those are my first impressions, anyway.

Enjoy:

Awesome performance man, I have another build with her already lined up for summer(ish) and I can't wait for it! Congrats and enjoy hearing the development over the next month, its always so drastic. I always love doing recording within the first day of a newly ordered guitar then recording as closely as possible a month or two later. Huge difference.
