so............what kind of guitar did you end up with...........

Daryl,

That’s excellent advice. I kind of liked the Boss Katana MKII 50 also (it has a .5w practice mode) and it is less than 1/2 the price of the Yamaha, but after listening to quite a few demos, I went Yamaha. It was designed specifically to play at lower volumes and just sounds better to me. I may pick up the Boss at some point if I feel the need.

And you’re just going to have to wait for NGD...lol. Won’t be until the first week of February....

Stay tuned!

Carol, sounds like a fun adventure. I dove back into the electrics world this past couple years as well and have to say the one thing that totally got me energized and learning a lot more was my Fractal Audio boxes. I have both the fm3 and the axe fx iii and they can sound fantastic across a massive range of tones and volumes from headphones to very loud.

They also helped me figure out how to get tones I was looking for on my real amps with a massive community and library of presets to try out from online. It also covers just about any pedal or effect I can think of wanting at this point

It is a very deep rabbit hole though.

I also picked up a Yamaha thr30ii that I like and there are some presets available there and I picked up a very nice Tone King full size tube amp.

Of all of the above the fractal stuff is what gets the majority of my play time.
The fractal stuff is also more expensive than the equipment you are talking about.

[QUOTE=KevWind;6614699]Carol. welcome to :

The Dark side

Don't let anybody tell ya different ---the only time it's "too late" to "Go Electric" is when you're dead.

I was 65 when after 50+ years of acoustic only, I purchased my first electric ,,,,,BUT there is a warning to be heeded
The potential Gas is at least double

Kev,

Hahaaa...that’s awesome! Love the PRS!

Carol, Fantastic!!! Wow, the PRS SE Hollowbody II, I've read great things about it and I've watched a couple of my YouTubers review it. Outstanding. Same with the amp. How do you like it?

You did a very good "Thing" .

Lol...thank you ! Yes, this is the Piezo version and I am absolutely loving it right now. I’ve never used an electric or an amp, so I find myself pretty much just strumming chords with a big stupid grin on my face. It is a beautiful guitar and I think I chose wisely with the amp.

Piezos usually have two output jacks. Does the PRS have that? If so, make sure you try both but you'll use the piezo jack for acoustic tones and the other jack for electric.

Yes, there are two jacks. One jack is magnetic only, so that if you don’t want the acoustic tones, you don’t run down the piezo battery. The other jack is mixed, and if you only use one amp and cable, you use the volume knobs to run all electric, all acoustic, or mixed. If you use two cables, two amps, the mixed jack becomes the piezo jack.

Did that make sense??? Lol...

It makes sense, Carol. Try both jacks (one at a time) with different amp settings. Have fun!

Congrats! Btw if you haven't try the Bass setting for clean and piezo on thr30ii. It actually does a really nice job and I like it better than some of the acoustic options.
