Brunner Carbon Fiber Guitar
Here are some pictures that Lukas sent me. I love the wood fretboard combined with the CF. I don't know specs but he is going to send them to me. Have a look!

Wooden fretboard on a CF guitar
I haven't been on the forum for a long, long time.
I have an "early" Composite Acoustics Legacy AE and I love it, except for the ebony fret board. Nothing wrong with the fret board except it is the only element of the guitar that needs attention when the humidity changes. I deal with sharp-ended frets every winter because the guitar sits out all the time. The later versions have a composite fret board and don't have this problem. BTW; this guitar is and has been my only guitar for quite a while as I have sold off the others because they were not getting any play time. (Taylor 710, Taylor 314CE, Gibson "Gospel,", 100th Anniversary Gibson J-200, Baby Taylor, Big Baby Taylor) Just my thoughts... Merry Christmas, everyone! Stoney |

Stoney,
I had a feeling that the fretboard would require attention....shoot! Lukas said it does add nicely to the sound too. I wonder if there is a wood he could use for the fretboard that would not require humidification??

i don't think so - reacting to humidity is part of the nature of wood.

Some luthiers recommend using walnut oil (sparingly!) when cleaning the fretboard. The light coating of oil can help buffer the ebony from humidity changes.

The wood will shrink and expand..whilst the CF stays consistent... Hmmmm??

It looks like one of his "neck comes off" models...doesn't fold, but does come off.
It appears to be his 21+" (perhaps 21.5") scale length model. My issue is that Lukas typically uses a 1-7/8"+ nut width for this guitar (when it's a wood-instrument), and his rationale is that this scale length is like capoing at the third fret...and that's the fingerboard width you would get if you capo'ed there. I would prefer a more normal nut width. Just my personal preference, of course. I wonder if he is going to make slightly longer scale lengths, as well.
