Default Tunnel 14

I would like a tunnel 14 redwood top to work with. Does anyone know where these things can be bought?. I've tried Ebay and the usual vendors vendors. I found a tunnel 13 for sale on Ebay. You would think they would be less but the asking price was 875

Check with Ben Wilborn, John--I know he has acquired some and could probably give you a lead to check out.

$875 sounds like a high price to me--that's much more than I paid for the upgrade to T14 on my custom build.

I thought Tunnel 13 was the more valuable one? It's the same wood, but Tunnel 13 had the famous robbery (and murder?) so it has a celebrity status wood from Tunnels 14 and 15 does not.

Mark Hatcher has also posted about these woods so he may also have a source. Probably the same as Tom's haha

"Celebrity status" or bad mojo, depending on how you look at it, LOL!

Ben will be building a T14/ziricote Arum for me. Stoked.

Smile Not Tunnel Redwood

Nice Sinker works for me.

However, I have come to believe in your Cedar, especially when selected for tap tone and stiffness...

You know I really cherish my remaining custom RT in Sinker/Claro Walnut

I would LOVE to play one of yours with a Tunnel Top. Choose any back and sides you dig!

So when do I get pics with the Koa wedge? Hahahaha. Thread Hijack, C'est la vie say the old folks

Paul

I think zircote and redwood will certainly look great together and in Ben’s hands I have no doubt it will sound good as well.

John,

The 13 on Ebay is from Bruce Petros. He has had several sets for years. He cut them himself maybe 20 years or more ago. He has a few smaller sets for $775. Bruce doesn't give away his wood, but the stuff I have bought from him has been world class.

You might give Preston Thompson in Sisters Oregon a call. They have a supply of 14 that they might be willing to let go of a set or two.
