Bounsall figured sapele dreadnought
Here are some glamour shots of the slope shouldered dreadnought that I recently completed. Top is Sitka spruce with interesting bearclaw figure. The body is African sapele, a close cousin to mahogany, with what was described to me as ‘raindrop’ figure. It has wonderful 3D chatoyance that’s difficult to capture in a photo. Neck is Spanish cedar (which is neither Spanish nor a cedar) with a beautiful cocobolo fretboard and bridge, long wearing cryowire frets, and Gotoh 510 tuners. Inside, there’s a buttress of carbon fibre rods that stiffens the neck block and upper end of the body to resist the constant pull of the medium gauge strings.
Details, pricing, and more photos are on the Bounsall Guitarworks website at https://www.bounsallguitarworks.com/...e-dreadnought/. A sound sample will be added in a few days. Enjoy! It took a bit longer than expected but the sound clip of this guitar is now available.
Many thanks to Don Bray for recording this video for me. Enjoy! Last edited by Andy Bounsall; 05-16-2023 at 08:56 PM. |
