I'm not looking to sell, but I bought an Applegate SJ back in January. It has a redwood top and can tell you it is an incredible guitar. Very articulate with warm midrange and powerful low end. My Redwood top is close to 150 years old since it was reclaimed from beams that were used to support the tunnels of the Southern Pacific Railroad in Oregon in the 1880s. I assume cedar would have a similar tone.

I was following another Applegate SJ that was for sale on Reverb that went for a vey low price. Unfortunately it sold a few weeks ago. He had a sound clip so you can hear how a cedar top would sound: https://reverb.com/item/67116729-app...ll-jumbo-cedar

I found my Applegate on this forum, so you might get lucky. Used ones don't go for sale that often, so you may have to be patient.

Default Ryan

Your Ryan is incredible looking . I just found the Gent who bought ny formely owned 2020 Applegate SJwith cedar top and IR b/s’s and he is selling back to me.
I have owned 4 Ryans all nightingales and all superb, but they were so nice I wouldn’t play them enough for fear of dinging them or damaging them . So, i let them go . Thks for the offering. I have another 2023 Applegate with moon spruce and Madagascar b/s’s , a 2023 Pellerin GA and a 2015 Maccubbin with red spruce and Brazilian b/s’s .
I also just purchased the new Taylor 814 ce builders edition with a Adirondack top and ir b/s’s . It is much nicer than many of Taylors 914’s , which I have owned as well .
