D35 sounding nice for these two blokes
Not a staple listen for me, but a nice sound from an old D35 in this US Tiny desk concert:
Just a couple of guys with a stripped down set. I only clicked to see what guitar the Edge was using, but I ended up listening through! |

hum...maybe alittle pitch correction on that vocal wouldn't hurt

I really enjoyed that! I didn't think there was any need for pitch correction at all. I thought the vocals were well done! Very natural, like you were right there in the room.
That D-35 really sounds like my old '67 D-35. He clearly has light strings on that guitar! And he's got the action really low... I thought the choir added a great deal. - Glenn

For those with the pitch correction comments, please post an audio sample of your current vocal ability without pitch correction
Like Glenn, I thought the vocals were VERY WELL DONE! I appreciate the fact that they showed up, and played these bare bones versions of songs we know with big production. The Edge has built a guitar sound around all sorts of FX so I found this refreshing. And also like Glenn, I thought I was hearing light strings and low action. Being that a D35 and a D28 are the same woods, I am pretty familiar with what a guitar like that is supposed to sound like, because I record with a D28 quite a bit. I would have liked to hear it with bigger strings, but he got the point across pretty well to me. The use of the choir in such a subtle manner was also very nice. |

I like them too, for many years and releases, but this was not one of their better showings….IMO

It's obvious even to my old ears. If you can't hear it...I can't help you.

I like the Joshua Tree and most of Achtung baby, but that's where it's for me. And mostly what I like about the Joshua tree is the production. That said I was was taken to one of their concerts and it was excellent!

I can hear just fine thanks you. But it's rock and roll, where a little pitch drift is more than common. Think Bob Dylan, or Mick Jagger. But since you were throwing stones, please revert to my suggestion.

Interesting that Edge is using an Orange Crush 35 in addition to the mic. That's a pretty crunchy sounding amp. Perhaps it's just for a monitor. Either way, his guitars sound pretty nice.
