I appreciate you saying that Paul

That’s something like what I told Woody my impressions were. Thanks for noticing.

I appreciate you guys saying nice things about this rosette. It’s been a struggle to find just the right design that has obvious traditional roots with a Twist as Paul said. (How many Paul’s are on. The AGF anyway. Seems like every Tom, Dick, and Harry is named Paul)

Smile One more…

I too really like this simple and very elegant rosette.

Go John, go

If you haven’t played one of John Kinnaird’s awesome instruments, you may have serious difficulty understanding the beauty of the SOUNDS this will produce, and the incredible ergonomic comfort it will offer, as well.

Sure, it is beautiful, but much of the beauty is way more than skin deep!!!

I am still over the moon with my three! Thanks, Sensi

Paul (Pablo). Haha

Cheers

I really like this rosette John. Certainly compared to what we started trying to do, this is a simple design and yet very elegant. The burl really speaks to me. That crossover at the 4 o’clock position should look nice. I think you did and awesome job on it. Very grateful!!

Mike likes a little decoration on the back. So here is some of the same burl as the rosette with paua, just to carry the theme, and some brazilian rosewood strips bound with b/w/b violin purfling, down the center.
We tried ebony strips here but I thought that was too black.

Your back strip design looks great on that Honduran wood. I really like it.
The reinforcement button is cool too!

John, looks wonderful! The sinker backstrip with the logo button is super classy!

I have a bracing question for you (forgive me if you've covered it elsewhere): I see you don't use an upper transverse brace on your top. I'm assuming the carbon rod-reinforced neck block removes the need for it, but I get into a lot of trouble when I assume things...hahah! Is that correct?

Thanks for the compliment. You are right about the transverse brace above the soundhole. There isn’t one because none is needed for fingerboard extension support. The fingerboard extension will have carbon fiber braces and about a quarter inch of neck wood under it, similar to an arch top extension, so it floats above the soundboard and increases the possibility that that part of the top will add something to the sound. The added support that a transverse brace lends to the neck block isn’t needed because of the carbon fiber braces.
