I'm going to say something that I've said before.......

I was a tube snob....Had my share of Vintage Fender-Rivera Tube amps even had a couple hand built for me.........

Never found a SS amp...Modeler that could make me smile by the tone...

But what I did find out is that an acoustic guitar(the right acoustic guitar) gives me all the harmonic...texture..nuisances...expression that any tube amp gave me.. If I had known that an acoustic guitar could do this I would of switched years ago.

I am trying to bring my ES339 into the gigging picture with some songs so I'm on the tone path again but I'm going to try a IR modeler this time..(IK Tonex)

I will probably one day build/put together my favorite Vintage amp again.. Just to have

CASD57, have you checked out the Universal Audio Dream 65 pedal? Sounds like it might be up your alley. '65 Deluxe Reverb emulation. Access to UA presets as well as presets built by various artists such as Tim Pierce. Andertons has some excellent videos on this one and others that are worth watching.

Then again, as many pros do in the studio, for about $1000 to $1200 depending on the source, a player can buy one of these and crank it wide open and pretty much save their hearing and get all kinds of luscious overdrive tones!
