For me to hang with Tim as he makes this 12 string guitars it's been fun to giggle in my corner. I know he has to concentrate of this string and that string location. This is a day of making memories. I heard a whisper under his breath while stringing it.

"This looks like a spaghetti mess."

I don't think that will ever happen. However I have learned to never say never.

Today Tim polished the ivory.

The spaghetti mess my luthier saw was better organized than he thought.

Commercial break:

We have been supporters of the ToneRite team and they have been an appreciative group toward us.

DR Strings also have been supportive of the McKnight guitar plans.

Though Tim is not a coffee drinker I also want to share the Acoustic Coffee Company appears to be making more appearances at the McKnight Guitar shop. Look it up. They told me Tommy Emmanuel is creating his blend at this time. Once his is complete buying his blend through the Acoustic Coffee Company will support Guitars For Vets. It's a cause many will want to support.

Acoustic Coffee Company

As you gaze your eyes on my husband, the McKnight guitar luthier, you can see the smile has not changed but the hair has.

I remember Tim saying at a McJam that he forgot how to make a 12 string... I guess he remembered. Man, that is just beautiful!

I see another electric, Telecaster style build in Tim's future!!

Is this the one with 10-22 in the serial number? If I recall the s/n scheme, this one started on my birthday! Does that make it special? You decide!

I can't be the one to decide which is more special. If we ask your wife the guitar loses. If I ask the guitar owner, he will say, "Rodger who?" I believe they might hash it out with different reasoning. I don't want in the middle of this debate. But for the moment let's be like Tommy Smothers and Dick Smothers. "Mom always liked you best."

Hmmm ... the birth of the guitar or the birth of Rodger.

YOU decide.

A 12 string? Did I miss this? I did hit my head pretty hard several months ago!

Looking great, Tim and Mary! Good luck in Harrisburg!

Thanks for the kind words Neil. When I was stringing this up a few days ago I told Mary that dealing with 12 strings was like I had my hands in a mess of spaghetti. I think this is only my 3rd 12 string in 30+ years and when cutting the nut it certainly made me take pause each and every time. It’s been under the ToneRite for 3 full days and after a thorough shake, rattle and roll I did my final set up and tweaks this afternoon. I must say the first strums brought a big smile to my scruffy face and it sounded quite angelic … even in my hands

The strap pin is in place and the shims are waiting in case there is a need for minor adjustments for the player.

Final pictures will be taken today! In a few short weeks this guitar will be personally set in the hands of the owner.

Talking SDG 12 string

Now all of the small children in the family refer to this guitar as “The Spaghetti Mess 12” , LOL

It lives at last ! Thank you so. Very much for both of your efforts on our behalf, this shall be a glorious memento for our passed love, and she would have enjoyed it greatly I believe.

Tim, I must comment, could you have possibly did anything at all to make this twelve less plain ? ROTFL

Good morning R. We have a 12" roller and a nice heather green flat latex eggshell paint that we could possibly do something with It may take 3-4 coats to cover up the Abalone though It's your call but fair warning that the wall paint may not be 100% dry before the Artisan Guitar Show

It is full of eye candy on so many different levels, but this is a long awaited memento like no other. This is why they call them custom builds. This is the first guitar we built around so many people with different ideas. All the features shine for a different person with a different memory. They can each tell their stories for generations to come!

In a few short weeks she will join you to be in family arms.

This guitar is about to meet her family in just a few days. This puts a smile on a few faces.
