Default Guitar Center Clearance Bin

As much as I hate Guitar Center, I do visit them when I’m in another town just to see what they’ve got. The store in Carle Place NY has a “bargain bin” of strings next to the string display. 50% off certain brands of strings, I guess in some specific gauges they don’t sell a lot of.

I picked up 4 sets of D’Addario nickel bronze in .13 - 56. I like Medium gauge strings and at 5 bucks a set couldn’t pass them up. They’re are still some sets left and D’Addario EXP coated phosphor bronze also in medium, D’Addario X, and some Ernie Ball and Dunlop.

I tried a set of the nickel bronze a while back on my J-45 and thought they were a little quiet. But will try them on my old 1918 Gibson L-1 and my ‘59 Martin 00018 to see if they work better on older small bodied guitars.

Anyone else find any deals?

I completed an on line survey for GC.Last week they sent a coupon for $10 off anything in the store.

The coupon stated "expires Feb 29,2023".

2020 is Not a leap year.

Anyway I drove down 25 miles to find out the coupon was not valid.

They lost a fairly good customer.(I never bought anything over $399...)

I've been a GC customer for decades, deep into last century in San Deigo when I served in the military, and back here at home in the Pacific NW since 2002.

Caveat Emptor. And I don't say that as an ominous warning. Simply, do your research and know what you do/don't want to buy.

Among other sellers, "Guitarget" has been a consistent source of instruments and gear for me since the mid-70s - with a money back guarantee. I know what I like, what's good and what's crap. Hands-on.
- Guitars & cases
- Amps
- Cymbals, drum heads, sticks
- Pedals, cables
- Mics, stands, speakers, monitors
- Recording interfaces
- Tuners, books and gifts, etc. for friends

And strings!!! Easily 100+ sets in the last 40-45 years.

I recently stumbled over and bought out their supply of Ernie Ball Custom Light (11-52) Aluminum Bronze strings for $5 a pack. Hoping they get more and I'll scarf those up too!

Bad-mouth GC if you will, I'm a steady customer.
