Want To Buy: High Quality Case for 1965 Gibson J-45

Reason why I mention year is, it seems my 1965 J-45 is slightly wider in the lower bout than other Gibson Slope Shoulders of different vintage.

I have a couple custom oversized 12 fret dreads with 16.25” lower bouts.

Which should be close to your axe in size. I think John K kind of did his take on a big Gibby dread. Advanced Jumbo? Is that the term for yours?

Anyway, the Hiscox dread case fits them great! I had the Artist (high end). Plenty of padding. And quite robust, at a reasonable weight.

Price is reasonable too. Size is somewhat larger than a comparable Calton or Hiscox, but the thermal protection of the THICK Dual foam padding seems to me to be the best I have found.

If you get the ivory color, you can spot your axe at a serious distance.
And it probably will survive a spell in the sun, as well

I have a '59 J-45 and I've never had a problem finding a case that fits it. Some are a bit snug at the lower bout, but it doesn't take much coaxing to get it in and secure.

Check out the Gibson branded custom Calton cases. I recently purchased a 1944 LG-2 and got one for it. It is a magnificent case, built like a tank, fits my exact guitar, and looks absolutely stunning. Can’t think of a better case for a vintage Gibson. They have tons of models to choose from in the drop down menu and their customer service is top notch if you have any questions about the exact fit.

I bought a Hiscox. Fits both my slope-shoulders including the J-45 as well as my dreadnought. Still curious why my '65 J-45 lower bout seems wider than other slopes...but bottom line, it fits in the Hiscox.

Case is strong, relatively inexpensive and light. Very happy.
