Default What’s a repaired Back crack worth?

I recently bought a D41 with two nicely repaired top cracks. It’s really nice, but I found a large repaired back crack with 3 cleats inside the seller don’t know about since he bought it after it was repaired and didn’t notice (it took me a week to notice it). Sort of returning the guitar, what would be a fair refund for the additional repaired back crack?

My fingers are at each end of the crack:

For me, guitars with multiple cracks give me a lot of pause - and if it were me I'd want the whole thing to be pending on my tech taking a look at it to make sure there aren't any other hidden issues (braces, lifted frets etc) Then I'd go from there.

I was tempted to make an offer on that guitar, if it’s the same one I saw
Do not really see the repair in the photo but still it’s undisclosed

I would shoot for 2 bills but would take 1 if it is a great sounding and playing guitar. I agree it should be evaluated first by a qualified tech before any final decisions

I’m very familiar with the luthier who did the repair work so I don’t have any additional concerns. The repairs are really well done.

Click on photo 2 so it’s large and it’s easy to see. But well repaired and fifth smooth. I only noticed it because you can see it when moving the guitar in the light.

To repair that crack would cost about 100 bucks then you might want to add a bit for the fact that it would hurt resale value. The repair looks to have been well done.. So double it? 200 bucks? I don't really know.

My concern would be the underlying cause of the crack(s). Since there is no visible damage to the finish in your pics, my first thought is humidity issues - which - might underlie pending issues....... I agree with others, a careful examination by a qualified luthier, and if found sound, $200 - 400 in compensation for the reduced resale value. Personally, unless you re getting an extraordinarily reduced price for the guitar, I would pass.

I figured out the cause of the back crack. Impact. The price was good already and we’ve come to an agreement on a partial refund. I’ll just enjoy the guitar and have a D41 I can comfortably gig with.
