Strings ??
Did you replace the strings at any time during or after the treatments ?

I have 2 questions for those who have used a Tonerite:
1. Does it make any noise by itself if you plug it in, not on the guitar? 2. How loud is it when it's on the guitar? Can you hear it in the next room?

The same luthiers have remarked on how nicely my guitars that they built have opened up. I like ToneRites. I don't like to argue about them. I keep my own counsel. Like Wade, I say they don't work on all guitars. One time, I found the result to be audible and unsatisfactory. I put the guitar away for several months, after which I discovered that the effect was not permanent. I now believe that the effect, positive or negative, is not permanent. If you like it, repeat it periodically (not right away). If you don't like it, put the guitar away for a while. Yes, I believe that there is an effect.

Thanks. I asked because as an engineer I want to try to make one of my own to try, so I wanted to get a sense of whether it uses a transducer or if it has coils in it and uses them to excite the strings, which sounds like it's the case.

Some of my acoustics hang in the music room with the electrics and the amps. These guitars get bombarded with loud music from 1 x 12 and 2 x 12 cabs and 12-18 watt tube amps. So my question is what effect does this have on say a new Eastman E10SS or a 2022 Larrivee OM or a 2021 000-18??

The off-brand shaker I use is $13-17 through various sources (just google "Guitar Vibrator"). I chose Walmart so I could return it for free/without hassle if I didn't like it.
Cordless operation, USB rechargeable in a couple hours. Just hang it on the guitar and walk away. Tapered rubber blocks slip in between all 6 strings however they're spaced, it stays snugly on a horizontal or vertically hanging guitar. It makes a humming noise at any intensity (adjustable), which the guitar amplifies - like its being played. Loudness when it's on? I probably couldn't sleep with it in the bedroom, but I don't notice it running elsewhere in the house. Without using any machine, the tone of my 2-year-old Eastman AC422CE has been developing nicely with aggressive strumming, hard picking and lots of bending. The "break-in" process (to me) is characterized by a sweeter balance and tonal continuity from string to string. Some folks dismiss it as buffalo dust, but I've experienced this incrementally with every new guitar I've ever purchased, especially the solid tops. Older ones not so much. Adding the "vibrator" (3-4 months ago) seems to have accelerated this process. Probably 9-10 sessions so far (2-6 hours each). Admittedly subjective, the tone of the guitar seems more "well-rounded" if that's an acceptable description. Again, YMMV. Maybe it's just from the hours I've put into playing it. Or perhaps the buzzer is speeding things along? No harm anyhow. Why not just buy a guitar that you like the tone and just call it a day?

Worked for me
I have used TRs on many guitars for the last 10 years or so.
Most sound a bit more open post treatment A couple, no different A few really changed LOT for the better. Koa and Adirondack both are famous for taking a lot of playing to wake up, and guitars with both benefited greatly YMMV. They are a bit noisy, but I usually put a cloth thru the strings and rest the TR on top of that. And turn it down. Then let it run for a few weeks if needed Hope this helps someone Cheers Paul

I Bought an original Tonerite some years ago.
I tried it on various guitars but my ears did not tellhear a significant difference. The noise while it is running is too intrusive for us so I had to do it in our utility room /my unheated wiorshop. Not fair on the neighbours. If anyone in the UK would like one pm me. OTOH .... I have considerable tinnitus (C# of all notes!) so when I'm in my office/cell /man(and cat) cave, I have BBC talk radio on all the time. On the opposite wall to my speakers I hang a couple of guitars. Any guitar I hang in there for, say, 6-10 weeks noticeably improves. I discovered this in 2017 when I bought a Waterloo WL12, which was very "tight". However, the purchase was shortly before I was diagnosed with cancer, and unable to play for some months. When I regained enough strength to take it down and play it was tonally much wider and warmer.
