I'm considering getting an Eastman E20OO, specifically the 12 fret model. My only hesitation is depending on the make some OOs can sound small or "boxy". This isn't necessarily a bad thing, but it isn't what I'm looking for. Does anyone have firsthand experience with the E20OO and if so how would you describe it's sound? I'm looking for a resonate and open sound similar to what you'd expect from a OOO or OM, but in a slightly smaller bodied, 12 fret package. For what it's worth I play almost entirely fingerstyle, and only strum occasionally. With a OO I expect more note separation than a OOO or OM which is fine. I just want to avoid anything with a thin or boxy sound.

I have owned one for about nine months. I would describe the tone as somewhat boxy but resonant with the characteristic rosewood overtones. The adi top is very lively and projects very well. Volume is surprising from such a small instrument. So far I’ve tried D’Addario EJ16, Silk & Steel & XS PB 12’s. All sound excellent. My sample seems to be very well built and is a total gas to play and hear others play it. Excellent choice for finger style but sounds great for strumming too. I really love mine.

I agree. I just sold a D28 that I've owned for 6 years but wasn't playing much but kept my daily player, a 11 year old Eastman E10SS.
