Hi, I posted my latest cover song video to my YouTube channel. There are now 49 songs posted on my 'Old Faithful Covers' channel.
The song is a multi-track cover on which I played and sang all of the instrumental and vocal parts. I tried to sound as close to the original recording as possible. The song is a fairly obscure album cut from Love's first (self-titled) album. The Los Angeles band was strongly influenced by the Byrds, with their heavy use of a Rickenbacker 12 string guitar and in their folk/rock, psychedelic songwriting style. Guitarist/singer Arthur Lee had been a roadie for the Byrds at one time. I think that most folks will skip this one, but I believe that the song is one of Love's finest early efforts. If you enjoy the video, please send a link to someone else who might like it. Thanks. beatbyrd https://youtu.be/hrGhBZCAnn4 |

Big Love fan here. Nice job.
Pedant's corner: I think it was Bryan MacLean (the other songwriter in the band besides Arthur Lee) who had worked as a roadie with the Byrds. Lot of great songs from that band. Some quite weird, some ear-worms that coulda shoulda have been hits, even if they weren't. Some both at the same time. Some not just Byrdy, some "garage" punk rock edge: "7 and 7 Is" for example there. Also their bizarre cover of Burt Bacharach's "Little Red Book" which Bacharach hated, but I've always enjoyed for bringing out the lecherous tinge inherent in the song. You joke about the vocal range needed to sing their arrangements. "Andmoreagain" -- parts call for a really high range and it has an orchestral portion equal to "Walk Away Renee" in use of plaintive strings in 60s pop. Arthur Lee's 60 "look" and eclecticism was likely part of some of Prince's influences I'd think. You likely know all this, but I thought I'd mention it for those reading who might be interested.

I will correct the Byrds roadie reference on YouTube. Good catch. I thank you for your detailed post - I learned a lot from it. Arthur Lee and Love were definitely an undervalued, under-appreciated band; both then and now. I went back and listened to the Forever Changes album today, just because I hadn't heard it in a while. Still quirky and it still holds up. I do have My Little Red Book on a not-so-short list of possible future covers, but no telling when/if I'll get to it. Thanks again for your response.
