I guess I just don't have the mindset to be taken in by "life altering" guitar experiences. I have certainly placed immediate holds on instruments at times over the years, but I never buy any expensive instrument without back-to-back comparing it with stuff I already own. The back-to-back almost always takes away the romance of the life-altering experience, but it also prevents buyer's remorse.

Yep, comparison shopping can shed light on perception. But after a few decades under one’s belt, 9 times out of ten first impressions tend to be on point. Still good to place a hold on a guitar you love then check around. It’s nice being able to circle back.
