Just bought this one at RetroFret:
https://www.retrofret.com/product.as...ic-Guitar-1925 It sounds AMAZING and plays great. I finally have my round hole archtop. I also checked out an L1, an L3, and an L75. They all sounded great, the L Jr. was the most distinctive of the group. The L75 actually reminded me of a cross between my L50 and a 000. But the Jr. has a certain punch the others didn’t. I’m definitely hyped. |

Thank you! This is absolutely the most dynamic acoustic I have ever owned. I'm very happy I took the plunge.

Congrats. That a really cool old guitar, and it looks a lot like an old 1916 L1 that a friend brought to my studio one day. Man, it was a ridiculously fun guitar to play, very dynamic!
Here it is with me playing some simple blues with it. |

That’s a nice L1 with some excellent playing to go with it!
Yes, these things do blues EXTREMELY well. But what blew me away was the change in tone depending on picking position moving towards the bridge or the sound hole. Mine changes tone more than any other acoustic I have. It’s almost like a Telecaster in going from trebly sting to deep warmth. And it resonates like crazy; I can really feel it vibrating against my chest. I recorded a little clip and sent it to my cousin who’s also a player. He was so blown away that he suggested getting rid of my other instruments and getting another L Jr. for backup. I’m not going that far (the others are special in other ways), but man these things are great. And contrary to stereotype, they do swing chords extremely well. Less volume than doing the same thing with a bigger guitar, but it really cuts and barks for such a small box. Amazingly versatile. |
