There are lots of electric players here so I'm sure you're always welcome! In fact, we'll expect a NGD post for your spiffy new electric when it arrives.

You don’t have to leave the acoustic guitar forum!
Plenty of switch hitters here… And I’m sure we’re all hoping this works for you. Best of luck, especially on the tinnitus. Cheers Paul

I received a Affinity Strat for Xmas back in 2000.. burst...Maple neck Not being satisfied with the electronics' I bought a cream 2-P90 pickguard, 2-mitey mite P90's, Stew Mac volume-Tone and 5-way switch, blocked the whammy
![]() Not sure how the new Affinities are built but mine is great...It is thinner then a standard Strat so I couldn't use a stacked(push-pull) type switch... I even used 13-56 strings and it handled them fine I'd say if you want to try out a Tele a Affinity is the way to go just in case you don't like the feel of it...But don't ditch it because of the tone..Thats the cheap electronics not the guitar |

If you have the same problem you'll find little relief from any steel string response, and particularly if you use an amp, even at low volume. You might consider a Cordoba Cadete 3/4 size nylon strung acoustic. The string tone is much easier on the ears. |

I've got to recommend the Squier Classic Vibe Teles, as well.
I have two - a 2009 CV50's and a 2010 CV Custom, and they're really nice guitars. Both are earlier MIC. They were about $280 each, brand new - back then. ![]() ![]() Last edited by Beachrunner; 06-24-2023 at 08:45 PM. |

I have a Squier Affinity Telecaster that I freaking love. I’ve changed out the pick ups, the switch electronics and now I am in the process of changing out the tuners. But I liked the guitar even before these upgrades.
It is from 2009. And it was made in Taiwan. I’m not sure if the other years and places of manufacture are as good. |

I've had many Tele's over the years, and currently still have 5 in the stable. I hate to say this but the worst by far was the Affinity BSB that I had. Narrow nut, thin body, lousy pickups and just basically blah. Even the basic Standard Squier is much better as a modding platform. The Squier CV line is on a completely different level. Other than the cheap selector switch it is good to go.
