A little sunday morning blues jam in drop D. One of my favorite blues tunes from Herbie Hancock. For many years this was always my opening tune for live shows.

Very nice funky blues tune. I enjoyed it, and your playing, while having coffee on my back porch on this fine morning
Thanks for posting it. I think I’ll just take another listen. |

Love it! Thanks for sharing, Eric. Wish I could play like that. You get so many cool tones out of that SC.

What an incredible "bouquet" of unique sounds, Eric! So impressive and the consistency you get with each pass replicating the exact tone of a previous riff is pretty amazing.
Wonderful job.

Did you hear Herbie play at the Portland Jazz Fest a few years ago? His opening admonition to the audience was "It's not going to sound like the record." Well, congrats, yours doesn't either - which is as it should be, in both instances!
Nicely done. |

That was truly virtuosic. I read somewhere that part of the growth in the popularity of the guitar with musicians during the Depression was because it was portable (unlike a piano) and, because fingerstyle playing could mimic multiple instruments, playing guitar didn’t require other musicians. That way, guitarists could keep more of the gig money.
You’ve got the whole quintet in there—Herbie, Freddy, Dexter, Butch and Billy (and maybe some Bernie Maupin thrown in for good measure). Is there a fret that you didn’t use? |
