Rowan and Rice - Beautiful Album!
I just re-upped my high-res streaming service after letting it go for much of this year, and started in on a Tony Rice deep dive. I'd never heard the album called "You Were There for Me" with Rice and Peter Rowan. What a great album! I had no idea Rowan is such a good songwriter. If I had one wish it is that there was some Tony singing because he's so good, but Rowan's no slouch and, as comes as no surprise, the guitar playing is fantastic. Here's the title track and/but almost every song is really good.

Another Peter Rowan project that I always liked is Wander, a 1996 duo album with Jerry Douglas. It's a mixture of covers and Rowan-written songs.

I downloaded this Rowan-Rice album because of this thread and it’s been in pretty heavy rotation lately. Really REALLY nice stuff!

The Rowan and Rice are really good recordings as are the Blake and Rice recordings which I have going on rotation this week. I haven't heard anything from these artists that I dont like. There is a cetain kind of magic when then get together.

The only time I saw Tony Rice live was with Peter Rowan and bassist Bryn Davies. Can't remember the woman on mandolin, but I do not think it was Sharon Gilchrist.
In any case they played many cuts from both "Quartet" and "You Were There for Me". If anything they sounded better than on the CDs. A great concert in a very small local venue. Thanks for posting. It's been a while since I listened to those releases.
