AER 60 or Henriksen Bud 6?
They seem comparable in features. Both are probably 10x louder thanI need. Any preferences or problems? Thanks!

For Henriksen bud 6:
I got a Henriksen the bud 10. I love it so much. I guess the same will be for the bud 6. It even more light weight, convenient if you need to take it anywhere. The 5 band EQ really work if you are brave enough to dig in. About the sound, I think henriksen bud series are more like PA speaker. I've tried it with acoustic, a strat, electric bass, keyboard and even electric drum. All got excellent result. It's really versatile. However, it lacks a high-pass filter. For AER 60: I've played with this amp once but I don't have one. Very beautiful sounding amp, especially for acoustic guitar. However, it's not that good if you put a mic and sing through this amp. And it's quite heavy and bulky comparing to bud 6. At the end, both are very good amp.

I auditioned a Henriksen Bud 6 once and it did not work for me. Loved the small size and light weight but I just couldn't get the sound I needed for an acoustic duo and the price was expensive so I returned it. I've never played an AER but I've heard plenty outdoors used by buskers and the sound was always great.
I'd say if you need a bigger sound for both guitar and vocals then the AER. But if you don't need a huge sound (and it sounds like you don't with the 10X sound comment) and you prefer a smaller, lighter size then the Bud. There's also a few options out at and below that price range that are also small, sound great and are excellent choices. |

For me it's the AER all day long, i could never wish for a better sounding amp, lightweight super portable and Tommy E uses them!!

Although some folks will say the AER is not great for vocals if you pair it with a good microphone vocals sound very nice. Try a Beyer M88 microphone with the Compact 60. IMHO it's a winning combination.

Thanks, all. Both seem well-liked and reputable. Leaning towards ARR 60/4, but need to fatten the piggy bank a little more!

I've only owned the aer.
And will mirror everyone's Experience with the bad vocal Sound. But for acoustic guitar It sounded great. If you plan on also Singing through it I would buy A used one so you dont lose Too much when you decide to sell It. I now own a eae d68 mk2 Much better imho as a mini pa. More power more adjustments fx Etc. Just a better amp all around. |
