Default Neck block problems?

Hi all. First post here!!

Any cause of concern with this?

It's a 3 years old Fender Paramount PM1, all solid wood (sitka spruce/mahogany b/s). The neck block has a small gap on the bass side. That is the deepest I can push a slip of paper into it.

The guitar was kept for the most part between 40-50% relative humidity, although it has depressions on both the top and the back at the end block and on the back at the neck block (as it was over humidified at a certain moment in time), since I own it (bought new).

Thanks.

It's not ideal but I have seen guitars that are 60-70 years old that no doubt were like that right out of the factory too. You could glue a thin shim in there to sure it up. Probably best done by a tech/luthier.

As long as the neck block doesn't shift, it is a non issue. A shift in the block will be obvious because the neck will pitch up, the action will get high, and a gap will appear at the binding. But in order for that to happen, the block must be completely loose from the back.

The shifted neck block will take the sides and binding with it. The binding separates from the back, leaving a gap.
