I really enjoyed that, great job. Nice to hear Ry Cooder's version: It seems to have retained that syncopated/bouncy Joseph Spence feel.

I learned this song from from Phil Heywood (Minneapolis); it was another step away from Spence's original, as Phil kind of 'waltzified' / smoothed it out.

Thanks Chuck. I hadn't heard Phil's version but just found your rendition. Really nice, different take on it and played really well. Your guitar sounds fantastic. What is it?

Thanks. This was the arrangement Phil taught, but his latest recording of it is more elaborate.

If you listened to my recording I put on SoundCloud last October the guitar used would have been my Carruth. Alan made it for me in 2012; it's a 12 fret 000, woods are Pernambuco and Red Spruce.

If you listened to my recording I put on SoundCloud last week the guitar used was my Leo Posch 00; it's a 12 fret elongated body with a 13th fret neck join, made in 2015 with EIR and Red Spruce.

Great job on a great tune! I played that song at my best friend's wedding (his request) back in the 70s and I'm a big Ry Cooder fan in general. You certainly captured the joyous spirit of the piece. BTW - I met Ry briefly after a concert a couple of years ago and he was very cool and friendly. My wife told Ry that one of my conditions for a wife was that she would have to be a fan of Ry Cooder...to which he responded "well that narrows the field!". Thanks and congrats on figuring out a marvelous song, Dan

Thanks Dan. That's a great story. Ry is an absolute legend. If I'd had that as one of my criteria I'm pretty sure I'd still be single!
