Coming from another activity I have a supply of white ABS plastic sheet, in .005" steps starting at .010". A sheet is a lifetime supply for a luthier, never mind an individual. And I know how much I'm shimming. Stuff's easy to come by, it's part of the K&S plastic-and-brass-shapes store display.

nut issue??
Turns out i am the nut. Took it to the nearest Taylor Gold repair guy. He said it is caused by the 14th fret lifting and the neck being too low. He is going to address the fret issue and shim the neck.
Dont know why its not covered by Taylor but apparently not.

I don't understand the diagnosis. 'Buzzing on the first fret' means one of two things, neither of which will be addressed by the Taylor Gold repair guy.
If the buzzing is only on an open string (string hitting first fret), then the nut is too low, or the first fret is too high. If the buzzing occurs only when fretting on the first fret, then that fret is too low, or the second fret is too high. |

Sounds like the OP was mistaken that it was buzzing on the 1st fret when it was really the 14th but that's still odd becasue that means the 14th fret would have to be so misplaced it would be obvious not to mention if it was popped up that high surely the high e-string would buzz too ???

Got it!
Well, got it fixed. Took it to a local Taylor Gold repair guy. I asked for him to fix it plus do a set up.
He reset the neck, repaired a couple raised frets, and installed a new (bone) saddle. I am happy--it plays buttery now with no B string buzzzzz---
