Acoustic Amps
For those of you who play your acoustic guitar amplified pretty regularly, what brand and model of amp do you use...and why do you use that particular amp?

I use a Fishman Loudbox Artist.........sound is excellent, not real heavy for taking to gigs. Also like the DI Mix out on the back to run my guitar and vocals into our board at gigs.
Overall a top notch amp for playing at home or for gigs.

I gig with either a Fishman Loudbox Mini or Loudbox Performer. Fact is, the Mini is all I need for 95% of the places I play.
While I don't own a Fishman Loudbox Artist, they are super acoustic amps too. My acoustic guitars all have K&K pickups in them. |

Although I've never tried one AER seems to rule the roost. I'll agree with what others here have said...Fishman Loudbox Mini, Artist, or Performer. (60/120/180 watts respectively) Great acoustic amps at reasonable prices. I have all three...well, actually I have the "100" which was the forerunner of the Artist.

Depends on how much power you need, but Fishman, Roland, Boss, and Fender all make amps at fairly reasonable prices.
AER, Henricksen, Hughes and Kettner and others make better amps but of course they are more expensive. You can get into the first group for under $500 generally. $1000 or more for the higher end stuff. |

Bose S1 Pro. Small, very lightweight, runs on battery. Great tone, fast and easy setup, versatile and easy to transport. We get great tone with no need for external power and can carry everything easily in one trip.
We also enjoy the modular aspect. I own two and use one when needs are minimal with the second one in the trunk as a backup or use two when we need more volume or coverage. We add an EAE StompMix X6 battery powered digital mixer when we need more inputs. |

I just bought a Boss Acoustic Singer Pro, and am very happy with it. It's got a built-in looper and harmonies, but I don't use those much. Anti-feedback works well. Natural sound (via K&K pickups).
I sold my Roland AC-60 when I bought the Boss. That was a good amp too; they've been around forever.

I use the Kustom PA-50. It is a good amp for half the price of most of the other name brands. I get along well with it.

Fender Acoustic 100. It's not top of line or anything, fairly cheap. But it works well enough for me.

I'll agree 100%, I use this for a lot of gigs. I used it just last night in restaurant/bar. About 45- 50 people, didnt get even the master volume up to half way.

I got one of the new Fender Acoustic Jr for Christmas and I'm pretty happy with it. Sounds great. Both channels have multiple built-in effects that are foot switchable. Built-in looper as well that is controllable with a footswitch. Bluetooth compatible for playing backing tracks. Aux input for the drum machine, etc.
I use mine mostly for playing along with backing tracks and capturing rhythm loops that I then solo over. Don't know if I'll ever play out with it, but I'm digging it immensely for what I'm doing with it so far. Last edited by arwhite; 01-16-2021 at 08:22 PM. |

If you sing at all, I'd look at a powered speaker. They sound better than any acoustic amp I've played, except for my Carvin AG 300 which is no longer made.

AER for me, but I also have a couple of Bose S1 Pros (good but not without issues). What I would say is steer clear of Fender, Marshal and Vox acoustic amps, I did a demo several years ago and included my AER Compact 60, a Bose L1 Compact, Fender Acoustisonic, Marshall AS50D Roland AC60 and a Vox acoustic amp of some flavour. The three amps made by electric guitar amp companies were noticeably worse than the others with the Bose being best for vocals and the AER best for guitar and the Roland got an honourable mention.

DI Out either before or after effects is very handy too.
