I agree with both of your points.
In my case, if I were just listening to Tommy Emmanuel, at some point boredom would ensue.

While I agree with much of the sentiment here I have listened to that Jon Gomm song many times without watching him play it and it is still a captivating song IMO. A lot more going on there than the obvious gymnastics.

I agree. The Jon Gomnn song posted to this thread stands on it's own as a instrumental composition. Not only is it an original song, the techniques that he's using that are entertaining to watch are also making the composition very interesting just to listen to... I doesn't sound like anything I've heard before.

It does fascinate me how tapping seems to bring out a certain level of vitriol. Most things people don't like they just ignore and move on, but the tapping thing seems to strike a nerve for some reason. Can't quite figure it out.

I mean this for both sides of the issue but particularly to those folks that want us to say nothing but nice things. If its an individual I hold my tongue but if its a guitar or style or performance then its ok to have an opinion you express.

While I am not a fan of the song I can 100% appreciate the incredible technical ability this kid has. There are several Tommy E arrangements in my arsenal but what this kid just did is above my station and I have no problem admitting that.
