Question DADGAD Help

After recently getting my 514CE, I decided to sell my 8 month old Yamaha CPX-5YN to help cover the costs. Well, after three online attempts with no one making my "Very Reasonable" reserve, I've decided to keep it for a while and tune it up to DADGAD for my first foray into alternate tunings.

Here's my question - Can anyone point me in the direction of online resorces for chord structures, lessons and/or tabs in alternate tunings? I was looking at Laurence Juber's sight, and it seems the majority of his music is perfomed in altered tunings. Would you say this is common for fingerstyle guitarists?

Thanks in advance for any and all help you can provide!!!

Go to www.guitarnotes.com and browse some of their links. I think alternate tunings might be under the "Instruction" heading.

They also have discussion forums. A few of the folks here (including me) also post there. The topics are just a smidgeon more wide-ranging than here.

Also, try Han's DADGAD Page at: http://www.homepages.hetnet.nl/~hspeek/dadgad/

I've only browsed this site lightly, but it looks like it has some good info.

Chris

Edited -- the old link was bad -- this one should work.

Thanks for the help!! From these, I found lots of other links. In case anyone else is interested, here is a site that really gives a clear explanation of different open tunings and styles:

Strummer1's Free Acoustic Guitar Lessons

What a great sound that opens up all kinds of creative possibilities -- Lovin' that DADGAD!!!

Thanks, Herb! I'll give it a shot! Of course, after giving up on trying to sell the Yamaha, someone drops me an email offering just below my reserve!

Needless to say, the Yamaha is now gone and I'm getting much more practice in the tuning department!
