Glad to see you are building armrests. Jeez, I LOVE my JKs with the double bevels and armrests!!!

Carry on and have FUN

Thanks Paul. The bevels on this guitar will not be the wrap around bevels that are on your guitar. I.e. its not getting the full Pablo treatment

Yep. I like laminated lining but it is a little wasteful of material since each strip in the layup is about as thick as a saw curl.

This guitar is going to be spectacular visually, and I would bet it will be spectacular sounding as well.
Though I would do a bit of pre-begging now, before it is too late. ha ha..
I really wish I could accommodate you on this. I do not have any recording equipment other than a cell phone and you know how the fedility is on that. There is one other problem, my playing is not the best. Maybe we could talk the new owner into performing.

Thanks Jamie. I appreciate your comments. I know what a wood connoisseur you are.

Part of my build philosophy is to keep the neck/peghead intersection as strong and rigid as possible. Towards those ends I keep the truss rod chanel closed up on the Tuner end of the neck. (adjustment is accessible through the soundhole) and I let the carbon fiber rods run as far as possible into the peghead. Of course all this gets covered by veneers.

Smile TONE

Yesterday at one of my unplugged gigs for the elderly I had a very nice woman sit down about 5 feet from me, well before I started playing. She asked if I did any songs that she would recognize.
I replied that I would be doing lots of songs that I hope she would recognize, especially if I did them correctly. And that I would be doing a couple of my originals, too. And that I was hoping she would help sing. This made her happy, and I had not even started yet.

She was way into it for the entire hour. And she sang well!
As I was putting away the John Kinnaird OVERLORD (my most recent commission from John) she commented that it was the best sounding guitar she ever heard, and beautiful as well!
She told me she had been a piano player, and played professionally. This is the kind of comments you like to get! And from a professional musician no less…

This kind of thing happens to me on a regular basis, and I can assure you it is not my playing that makes the difference. Although I do pay a lot of attention to TONE and really work to get the best acoustic sound possible.

John's instruments really SOUND GREAT. THANK YOU JOHN!!!

This one will be a Monster, I wager!!!

Paul

Yikes, I appreciate the great plug Paul, though I must admit that I'm always intimidated by a prior success. It's one of those "yeah, but can he do it again?" kind of things

Way to go John. The design of the headstock is really artistic. Are you sure you can't rearrange your schedule please!!!!

Thanks Tom.
I really wish I could make that gathering at your place. The area, the people, the great guitars all those excellent builders are bringing, and the relaxed atmosphere sound like the perfect event. I hope you do it again next year, and that I'm invited. heck, why not twice a year.

Coming together beautifully, John. The splash of green is great against that ebony.

John, I didn’t reslize you won’t be st Tom’s event. Meeting you and sampling your work would have been a highlight, especially with you at Woodstock. Hopefully there will be other opportunities.

Meanwhile, that is a gorgeous headstock!
