Default Question about installing a line-out jack

I own a Fender Acoustasonic SFX without a line out. I'd like to install an XLR/1/4" out to run the mixed sound into a PA board.

How do I approach this? Tap from the main speaker? Go inside and tap the Signal before crossover network?

I've don'e my fair share of soldering stuff, but this one has me being hesitant.

Thanks,
Ed

I don't think you are going to want to tap onto the speaker out as you would be taking a high level amplified signal and feeding it into a low level input. Your gear might not like that.

If you don't have a line out on the amp, you should be able to use the send jack of the effects loop. Using a 1/4" TRS, the tip is left, ring is right.

Doesn't look like the amp has an effects loop or line out.

It might be technically possible to tap into the speaker wiring, but you'd need some kind of circuitry to convert this to line level; not sure how difficult that would be. I did some searching and found this, which looks like it might do the job:

I must have been looking at the gen 2. With that being said, I'd look at trying a line level converter for a car stereo which will take your speaker output and flip it to RCA without jacking with your impedance etc converting it to low level signal. From there you should be able to adapt to what you need. You can find those in the car audio section of bestbuy or possibly Walmart and should be less than 20$. I used to use them installing amps on OEM car heads back in the days.

Thanks, I was thinking about tapping the speaker, but then attenuating the signal to a normal line impedance. Then I thought that I might have an issue with speakers from a cross over network, leaving too much mid/lows in the woofer, too much highs in the tweeter, etc.

Thanks for the link. That's an interesting box, seems to have all the normal jacks too.

Now you have me thinking. Maybe I'll try their website to find this component.
Thanks.

I’m not all too familiar to that amp but was looking at some pictures on the internet. You could try taking the converter and connect the tweeter to the left chan in and the main forward woofer to the right chan in. Thus running both into the PA on independent channels and mix them together there.

Here is a couple more at best buy. http://www.bestbuy.com/site/searchpa...egories&ks=960

Otherwise, what about just miking the amp?
