For Sale: Lowden F-23 (Cedar/Walnut) $old

Hey all,

For sale is my beautiful Lowden F23 made between 1999 and 2001 in the Newtownards shop.

The condition is very good to excellent, no previous repairs and the playability wonderful. The saddle has room to come down and the neck is quite straight. The only flaws are a couple tiny dings on the top, a small scratch on the side and 2 very light scratches on the back, I've highlighted each one of these small dings in the photo link below. The previous owner had it for its entire life and took great care of it, otherwise. It comes with the original Hiscox case.

The sound: Open. Loud. Rich. Balanced. Like any Lowden really, but I see why the cedar/walnut combo gets the praises it does. The response is super fast and articulate and the walnut is clear as a bell in every single register. The body depth is 1/4’ thinner than modern Lowdens which have 4 3/4 body depths, this was one of the main reasons I bought it, less muddy sound.

Below is a video I recorded a few weeks ago for the engineer to reference and the eq was left flat, just added some reverb. I’m happy to upload another more neutral demo for anyone seriously interested.

Body depth at tailblock: 4 1/2’
Scale length: 25.5

A wee bump for a beautiful looking and sounding Lowden...you get 35-series upgrades on this one, folks. Highly figured wood and that beautiful, wood-bound rosette. Reasonable offers welcome.

Thanks Paul, I’m surprised its only gotten trade offers so far, I remember the last f-23 that came up for sale only lasted a day! We will see, I dropped the price $100 because there are definitely some fine Irish guitars for sale here on this fine forum. For those interested please PM me with any question. This is essentially an f-35 for a f-23 price, due to the nice woods used and the rosette. The body is slightly thinner too which I liked for recording and comfort’s sake.

Well it already got a bump today but I have to say great guitar!!! If i had not just added an F25c to the collection I would be all over this. Anyone dreaming of a Lowden should give this a good hard look. And a beautiful song to accompany it!
