Hey Bill, nice instrument. It looks to have abalone top purfling, yet marquetry rosette. Am I seeing that correctly? And if so, is that fairly common on the Larson/Stahl’s?
(And I hope the OP doesn’t mind a widening discussion on Stahl guitars...) Steve |

What a beautiful guitar! French polish finish? The top just glows.

And back to the OP's gorgeous instrument: I imagine that I speak for all of us when I write that I'd love to hear a recording of the guitar!

Very nice! I love those old Larson guitars. I've got one in the shop now for a restoration with very similar design scheme.

Thank you! I'm pretty sure it's a nitrocellulose lacquer, but the finish is very thin. I can see the texture of the wood through the finish if I tilt the guitar in the proper lighting.

Very awesome....congrats!
Alan showed me this guitar quite a while back when I dropped off my '47 D-18 for a refret. The workmanship and detail are out of this world good. Sounds good in your video as well. Enjoy it in good health!!! |

The rosette is abalone as well. Here’s a closer look. My apologies as well for the thread drift. Hopefully the information will Be of interest to the OP.

That's a beautiful Stahl you have. I also thought the rosette was not pearl until you posted the close-up picture. The red outline around the rosette makes the pearl look totally different than the outer purfling. |

That was lovely playing and the guitar sounds amazing. Very vintage sounding with the wonderful balance Larsons have across the bass, midrange and treble registers. Thanks very much for sharing.
