Default Yamaha SG1820/1802

What are your guys' general thoughts on these? Really open question here...

I want one of each. Cannot find any here in the states (new) and used ones are few and far between.

Their quality is surely better than my Revstar 502T, which is excellent.

If I were an electric-mostly player, I would not hesitate to buy one sight unseen.

I assume that most people don't want to spend $3k on a guitar made by a "motorcycle company" when Gibson offers what they do and the reputation and following they have, and the fact that EVERYONE plays one.

Some terrific musicians play Yamaha, but when all we see is Gibsons everywhere that's what people buy. Not to mention the lack of availability for the Yamaha SG's.

The upper end Pacificas are unbelievably good for the money.

Oh yes, "the motorcycle company" factor...so true...lol

Ponder this...If Gibson made motorcycles how reliable do you think they would be? ;-0

Lots of love for the Gibson SG here on this subforum. I'm guessing that most people aren't familiar with that Yamaha model. I'm not familiar with it but I'm guessing it's a great guitar.

Are you looking to buy sight unseen?

I just purchased 2 acoustics so I won’t be purchasing anything any time soon. Was just curious what people on here thought of the Yamaha.

There is a steal on Reverb for one that's in Texas. Black 2015 SG1820. Well under $2k.

Are there any big rock/metal/blues guitarists that use Yamaha electrics? Rik Emmett of Triumph did back in the day. Not sure if he still endorses them. Rik is one of those underrated guitarists and a great vocalist as well.
