How true Colin! With all the guitars Mike is building for Healdsburg, I'm hoping he will get mine done before the end of July.

Here are a few more photos that Mike just sent me of the completed sides all glued together. The other guitar in the photos is the "sister" Cocobolo Meridian to my guitar that Mike is building for Healdsburg.

John, that inside of the back set is gorgeous! I'm sure the outside is just as striking but that really caught my eye. If I were you, I'd find myself peering through the sound hole and port every time I picked it up!

Best,

Phil

Thanks Phil and Steve. I'm hoping Mike put the best looking side of the back on the outside!

If he doesn't at least he's added both a sound hole AND a soundport for you to get the occasional view

Looking great and is going to be beautiful when finished, but then aren't all Baraniks? (mine arrives in approx. 3 hrs time )

Thanks Roy. I can't wait to see the glamour shots of your Meridian. I've been following your build thread from the beginning. Hopefully you'll post some sound clips too (after the guitar has settled in of course).

Smile More Great Baranik Photos

The build is starting to get exciting now as Mike is getting to the decorative part of the guitar now. For the headstock, heelcap, rosette and tail-wedge accents, I sent Mike several Celtic patterns to choose from, and he worked his usual magic. The celtic pattern is inlayed in black ebony on Purple Heart, and the surrounding woods will be African Blackwood and sick Cocobolo (cut-offs from the back and sides). The binding on this guitar is going to be African Blackwood, with black/Koa/black purfling.

Without further ado, here are the sample Celtic inlay photos:

I can't believe how good Mike is at fine detail work. He's got the hands of a Keebler elf!

Smile Headstock and Rosette

Thanks for the nice words Chad and Matt.

Here are a couple of photos of the headstock and rosette taking shape:

If all goes well, Mike says that my Meridian will be finished by the end of July!

I can't wait,
John
