Default Looking for new custom builders

Afternoon,

Who are some of the newer custom Dreadnaught and OM style acoustic builders out there?

There are more than can be easily enumerated here. Can you be more specific about what you’re looking for?

I'd suggest Oliver Marchant who builds under the name of Marchwood Guitars. Definitely one to watch.

Luthiers I either know of personally or have investigated their guitars: Ken Casper, Oska Burman, Pat Foster, Alexander Voss, Jim Worland, John Datlen, Aaron Foster (Queen City Guitars), Warren Murfitt.

I wouldn't consider myself a "new" builder but I am reintroducing my "Vintage Series" concentrating on prewar OM and Dreads. They will be (mostly) in the 28 style. These will mimic the prewar stuff with a few exceptions such as adding trussrod and occasionally Madagascar rosewood instead of Brazilian. Of course I will be using Adirondack (Red) Spruce for that tops and also make them with Mahogany too.

I have been making OMs for years with my own "spin" on them and will continue to do so but am excited to be giving a nod to the great stuff that came out of the 1930's.

More info coming and hopefully my old out of date website will be replaced soon to show more details.

If you’re in the UK, couldn’t agree more.

Cheers,

Young builders or building modern takes on the DN or OM?

My 2 favorite OMs are totally different. My Bob Thompson OM is built by an old timer and has a wonderful old and lush tone. My Aboudib OM is built by a relative younster and has a great modern sound.
