Default What pickup do you use on classical, etc, etc?

Not sure if this is the right place to place this post. Please remove if it's not.

Do you use a pickup on your classical, flamenco, folk, etc? What do you use? I want to install one in mine, but don't know enough about it. Cheers

Default Pickup

I've tried many, the Barbera Transducer seems to work best on my nylons. I had them installed in my Kirk Sand and Taylor Nylon.

Hi
Flamenco guitarists in 99% of cases dont use pickups
mainly high quality condesers such as nuemann, dpa or akg etc
if they use anything inside the guitar more often than not it will be some sort of mic set up
such as the mini flex two mic system [running out of phase for feedback elimination/control ) or bartlett mics..kk meridian etc
any type of under saddle system simply does not give the percussive techniques of the genre....te overall result is very dissapointing to say the least
even the baggs antemn and lyric is a general thumbs down with mini flex giving a better gain before feedback signal and more options due to the dual placement options
very affordable too

i use
a DPA 4099g...or a DPA 2011c or a NuemannKM184
or my gigging guitar is fitted with the mini flex

classicals are different i guess due to the nature of the music played
again it depends on what your playing on the guitar

hope that helps

When an external microphone isn't practical, I have a McIntyre contact mic glued to the underside of the top that works just fine. It doesn't require any power.

Thankyou all very much for your responses. Bohemian the k&k sounds fantastic. I will need to check out all avenues first before pulling the pin. I have a old Yamaha S-50A folk given to me and I would like it amplified. I like the idea of the k&k not having to need a pre-amp. Cheers guys heaps

Put simply: the KK works, is modestly priced, simple install.
