Congratulations. I'm a few years behind you but like you I started at 8...after being given a guitar for my 8th birthday.

Do you still have your first guitar? I still have mine but I keep it mainly for sentimental reasons.

First, no, a little Gibson 00, traded for an ugly Martin F-50, still have it. Ugly, sounds good though.
