Did you try 3-way pickups with a 3-way crossover, meaning the UST taking the lows, the SBT the mids and the mic the high end? Nowadays, it is something easy to try with a digital mixer... I wonder if you did.

I've not tried that with a 3-way setup, but have done it many times with 2 sources, kind of the standard approach, which of course the Anthem (and B-Band before them) made as a built-in feature. That K&K setup that's been mentioned had 3 bands of EQ on each source, and guess I did try that system in all kinds of EQ combinations. Never got a sound out of it that I liked any better than just SBT+mic.

As far as sacrifices, I'd say that A/B'd to pure acoustic guitars like Martin's of a similar price range you lose some volume. Would a Fat Lady hold up in a group of Martin D-18's? Probably not, but then again what would? Our own Aaron Short now plays my old Fat Lady 2 and it's some of the best sounds I've heard on his weekly shows when he plays the Fat Lady. I don't play in jams with other guitars so I don't know about that.
