I bought one a couple of years ago and Love It! I paid $1799, and with the new discounted price of $1299 it's a no-brainer, and I should pick up another one! Probably, LR Baggs is bringing out a new PA model.

I'd be interested in your experience as I'd assumed they didn't sell well and thus the steep discount.

Cuki and I were just discussing this unit. The premise behind the design is very good. And, I would expect this unit to sound like $1M. The two channel design, requirement for a speaker stand, and the $2K price put me off when it was released. At $1300 it would compete with any compact PA product as long as you don't need battery power and don't mind a speaker stand.

A key part of the premise is excellent dispersion which is what makes the big Bose systems
work so well in live situations. It’s the outstanding feature of the Synapse among smaller
systems.

I too was just put off by
their 2k pricepoint. And im sure
thats why they didnt sell.
Now that they are 1200 ..im put
off by a company that gouged
the consumer to begin with.

Excellent review. Although this wasn't his exactly his point, I think for the $2000 original price you can purchase a Bose L1 compact and S1Pro. That would provide more bang for the buck. At $1300 it's a different story. I think the Synapse would need to be below $1000 for it to be more popular.

Indeed. That's a good point. But I think with the mixer built in and different speaker design they would be entitled to more than a QSC powered speaker.

The Synapse... has... (narrator gasps and passes out, recovers and triple-checks specs) It has master volume control.

If you're Bose, you probably think this accounts for around $700 of the original price. I'm willing to arrange industrial espionage so they can pirate this exotic technology.

Aside from the price which indeed took it off my list, I never liked the visual impact of the design. 100% subjective. I keep waiting for gun turrets to poke out of that pillbox.

The LR Baggs Synapse is an all-in-one, great-sounding, wide-sound dispersion product with pretty much all the features a player needs. With the QSC, you'll have to add a mixer that has some of the same features that the Synapse does, and it still won't have as wide a sound-dispersion field as does the Synapse.
