TRADED:Iris DF Smeck - Deep Body 12 Fret Dread
Regretfully selling 10 day old Iris DF Smeck that I purchased new. The tone is lush, warm and BIG! I am finding that I favor a standard dreadnought depth so I am hoping to sell this and fund another 12 fret. Condition wise, it is in excellent condition. Did I mention it’s 10 days old [emoji2]? Comes w original TKL hard case. A bit about this model taken from a dealer site: Hand built in a small-shop setting in Burlington, Vermont, Iris Guitars offer exceptional tone and playability, vintage-tinged designs and unique detailing, solid tonewoods, and nitrocellulose lacquer finish. The DF Smeck is the only regular production deep-body 12 fret dreadnought model being made today. It is modeled after Gibson’s Roy Smeck Stage Deluxe Hawaiian models built in 1934 and 1935, but features modern neck carve and bridge string spacing. The DF Smeck has more air volume inside its body than just about any other guitar being made, and as such has more bass end presence and breathy warmth than all the rest, too. It’s awash with dark woody resonance and is amazingly open and responsive too. A big guitar with a lot of real estate to its spruce top, a stylish 30’s Ray Whitley-inspired firestripe pickguard, ivoroid bindings and sunburst top finish. Three-on-a-plate Golden Age open geared tuners, and bold Iris headstock logo. Round neck with a full feeling C carve, 16” fingerboard radius, and a 1-3/4” nut width. Bone nut and saddle, 25” scale, 2-7/32” string spread at the bridge. Katalox fingerboard and bridge. Depth is 4.5” at the neck joint and 4.75” at the base. Sorry to hear it’s not working for you. Really a handsome guitar. How deep is your new guitar and what sort of depth do you think might work?

Its measuring 4.75” at the bottom and 4.5” at the nexk joint. I think I just need to stay within standard dread measurements.

Wow! If you were close by Chicago I'd be on my way there to try/buy. I've been drooling over these on the internet the last few weeks.

FYI, a Flammang RS 12 fretted is 4.5” and 3.5” deep. Most comfortable dread I have played. Worth looking out for (or ordering?). Love mine.

Would trade for a 12 fret dread.
I have a D-28 Authentic 1931 Martin 12 fret slope shouldered slot head in the classifieds... I couldn't trade even, but I like your guitar... -Mike |

Thanks for all the comments. The tone on this one is something else. Open to trades for a 12 or 14 fret dread. Mahogany b&s preferred.
