Default Fretboard

I've been working away setting up the neck. The fretboard is going to be Bocote and here I am gluing on the African Blackwood binding and maple purfling lines:

Once this is dried and the surface is radiused I'll install some Green Turquoise fret markers which will also have the maple purfling.
Here is a mock-up of the markers:

I'm sure the additional green will go wonderfully with the rosette!

Thanks canuck7 It is working out well! Most guitars seem to take on a life of their own.

Thanks Tom, I came to admire Bocote when I was building the Bocote Woodsman right before I moved out of New Hampshire. There is a old look to Bocote.

How far did you turn the knob before you get past the slop and the string post engaged? Do a couple of each brand so you can averages.

What are the results with the strings on? Isn't that what counts?

The result is that you have a better feel for the string and more control. Putting the strings on doesn’t eliminate the slop. That is why sometimes you turn and turn and nothing happens.

Default Friezing the guitar

There is a lot of clean up work to do you but the binding, purfling, cutaway bevel etc. are all in place. I have the fretboard radiused and the neck blank is attached to the body. Getting there!

Stunning. That rosette is brilliant.

Bocote is a wood I gained an appreciation for recently. Your comment on it looking old is quite insightful. The colour tones that it settles into after being freshly cut is very attractive and it certainly presents an interesting colour range across the grain.

Sorry, don’t mean to tease. We’ll be seeing pictures of the whole thing coming together soon enough. Let’s just call this a little preview.

I have the green Turquoise fret markers in. They are located on the 5-7-9th frets:

We have a small fretboard extension. I'm happy how the fretboard end is lining up with the sound hole:
