S. Kinnaird - Cedar/Honduran Rosewood 000-12
Earlier this year we were contacted by a friend, past client and sometimes AGFer (all one person) about building a new instrument for them. The tonal goals were to have darkness and warmth while still having enough clarity to not be muddled. Through some back and forth we agreed on trying a 000-12 body shape with a cutaway made out of Honduran Rosewood and topped with some Western Red Cedar.
The time has now come for the build to commence, and we thought we would share the build progress with you. There’s a cutaway and a soundport, but beyond those, the guitar will have simple appointments - a standard 3 ring silvery green abalone rosette, Indian Rosewood binding and a traditional inlay pattern. Laying out the top:  Gluing on the back center seam reinforcement:  Bending the sides:   Thanks for following.

I'm a recent huge fan of that shape...particularly when it comes out of Nacogdoches...can't wait to hear it with Dalbergia back and sides!

Continuing on, here’s shot of the rosette installed.  The fairly traditional bracing plan laid out on the top including the reminder that this guitar gets a 2 5/16” bridge spacing.  And all those pesky back braces pinned down.  Thanks.

Here’s some shots of the rim assembly. Gluing the end blocks in.  Clamping on the top lining.  Putting the back curvature into the lining.  Sides ready for side braces.  Thanks.
