Hey Dustin! Just catching up on your build and of course, I'm blown away! What a stunning elegant guitar, which I know will delight all of us as we take a listen to your talents as you demo and present this instrument.
Loved the pic of your travels. Fabulous pics of the tidal pools over there.....(ironically the title of my new tune: "Tidal Pools" which I just finished). You are one creative guy!
Looking forward to hearing you "lift off" with your new git!
Best wishes for the holidays, Dustin!
Fred

I think this custom build thread is one of the best ones I’ve ever followed. Now I can’t wait to hear this guitar.

Hey all, it's been a wonderful past few weeks getting to know the new guitar and I look forward to sharing a batch of videos early January. Thanks for following along...still coming down from the trip to be honest and then of course the holiday gigs and seeing family has been top priority. In the quiet moments have managed to write a new tune on the Beag and sharpened up a few arrangements I will be eager to share soon.

Rory and I wanted to get a shop tour video filmed while I was there but there was a setback or two (see stranded Audi photos ) and I admittedly wanted to see as much of the land as I could during the short time allotted, so maybe next time. Not to mention the boys were hot on the bench with a couple of mandolins that were set to be delivered asap. These guys work some long hours and I wasn't about to stop the shop gears from turning!

I would encourage anyone interested in Rory's work to check out Michael Watt's videos on Youtube or type Rory's name in on Spotify for some fun, but very deep interviews that shed some light into what brewed up their shop.

Check back in soon, thanks again everyone for the kind words and being a part of the build thread.

2 videos finally coming this friday/saturday. One will be to Taran Guitars' YouTube channel (go subscribe if you haven't!) and EP 1. of "My Favorite Luthiers" featuring clips from myself, Karlijn Langendijk and Matt Thomas coming to my channel after. Looking forward to sharing. Here's some shots in a different format and some stills from the demo!

Beautiful guitar. Is it wrong of me to say my favorite parts are the end graft and heel cap. Scottish elm burl I am guessing, same as the bevel? Rory had that hot sand fade down to a perfect science!!!

Not wrong at all, I had to break out the Macro lens to get the detail crispy! Such beautiful material.

Same here!

I first saw this technique with Michael bashkin's guitars years ago and it is great to see how he has used this technique in his own way and the results almost seem to glow with with inner fire as the light shines on it.
