Tom, in Post #31, did you notice the thermometer/hygrometer on the window sill? Perfect conditions for guitars (and people). Just ask Steve and Ryan what the outside conditions are down here.
Congrats, it's a beautiful instrument.

Thank you sir!!! Funny, but I did notice that and actually did not want to admit to that for fear of coming off too intense!!! But, yes, perfect conditions and I am sure much cooler than outdoors!!! August in Texas equals January up here, everyone stays inside!!!!

Default Nuts

The neck is the focal point these days. yesterday the nut slot was cut and the nut temporarily fitted....

Here is a jig applied with an angled edge to match the fret board so the the blade can run down the face and make the cut at the correct angle parallel to the end of the fretboard:

Next after a chisel was used to removed the excess wood, the nut itself is used to clean up it's new home...there is sand paper stuck to the bottom of the nut and it is slid back and forth to finish the slot and make a smooth spot for it to rest....simple. Effective.

The nut is then test fitted...Now that is Ryan in the background apparently working on another guitar which I find very hard to believe....I mean come on here, there should be only ONE guitar in that shop right????

Finished slot...the nut and sandpaper will now wait until after the neck is finished and the sandpaper will be used again to remove any unwanted finish in the slot prior to being placed for good...

As always, thanks for checking it out!

Two-timing philandering bigamists! I feel your sense of hurt. Like I told my high school girlfriend, "Those other guitars meant nothing to me."

Sorry we broke the fantasy of a completely B'Sox shop. There's actually (I'm so ashamed) two other guitars in that picture. The one I'm working on for fellow AGF'er TuckerRE and, in the background, laminations glued up for the next TAMCO guitar. As AGF instruments actually are only a small percentage of our building process, to have three in one shot is a little impressive.

But really nothing can replace yours Tom.

To also quote your old high school girlfriend..."words are cheap mister, it's your actions that tell me who you really are!" I see those other guitars there.

She probably also told you,"I think you ought to know, my Daddy has a gun and he don't care too much for boys comin round"

Not much going on right now with the build....sort of in between a few things. The box is pretty much ready to ship to the finisher and Steve and I were throwing ideas back and forth this weekend in terms of fretboard markers ie. inlay patterns. That is really hard to do, but we may have come up with a working prototype that will certainly be subject to change as the work develops. That is really the last major hurdle to clear.

Hope you all had a nice weekend, it was beautiful in upstate NY at least.

My S.O. and I went to see Toby Walker play on Saturday. He was at a little city park no more than 5 minutes from my house along the Mohawk River. It is a little amphitheater and was real nice, probably about 150 to 200 people there and Mr. Walker put on a nice show with blues and vocals and instrumentals. He played a 6 string H&D mini jumbo with a cutaway, a 12 string which I could not tell about, and a resonator for slide. He was very gracious with the crowd as well as with freight trains going by about every 20 minutes....

Tom

Well, LET THE WAIT BEGIN...the box is being packaged up quite carefully and is being sent off to the finisher....4-6 weeks I believe, might as well be 4-6 years for how it is going to feel....anyway, I am sure the wait will be worth it at least I am praying it will....

Thanks
