Default Redwood / Chakte coc (Redheart) handmade by an unplugged luthier

Handmade, without power tools (save for the inlaid fretboard).

Specs, as far as i can recall.

Top: figured redwood
B/S: redheart (Chakte kok)
Bracing: sitka
Neck: laminated red lauan (46mm nut, thin but wide neck profile)
Fretboard: african ebony (store bought, already inlaid, but real ebony)
Bridge: ebony
Binding: rosewood
Purfling: abalone
Back strip : rosewood
Headstock Veneer: rosewood
Nut & Saddle : bone
Machine Heads: gotoh 501s
Finish: french polish (shellac)
Scale Length: 25.5 in

That guitar looks well executed and is the evidence of a considerable degree of skill that your friend's possesses and that was certainly not a sophomore effort. Has he been building guitars for a few years now?

We bought the already inlaid fretboard from China. It's confirmed to be real ebony, though. Also, we are Asians. ��

He used to run a little shop about a decade ago, but somehow quit to work in another country (not as a luthier), then for the past 3 years, had been researching about modern methods. He just recently went back to making them with the goal to supply to music stores. I believe he has already started doing so in Korea.

We are Filipinos, btw. ��

I'm just lucky to have one of his prototype ones. Cost me well under 1,000$. Just about paid for the materials.
