 Pacific golden plover in full breeding plumage. These birds migrate all the way from Alaska or Siberia to as far south as New Zealand after breeding, and return to the same spot year after year. Then at around April-May, they migrate back to breed. This guy will return in the next few weeks, and will come back in October or so.  Sunset in Ko`Olina Oahu, HI. I actually missed the sunset, but was able to get some cool twilight colors. The rocks in the foreground is not dead reef, it’s lava. |

We just got back from a trip to upstate New York - specifically to Skaneateles Lake, one of the Finger Lakes. The weather wasn't especially cooperative, but I got a couple of shots which captured the feel of the place, I think.
